XtraMiles opens to volunteers in every country
What began in 2011 as neighbours helping neighbours in Nigeria now has a name, a clear way of working, and room for anyone who wants to help.
XtraMiles is a volunteer community. When someone is struggling, a volunteer submits their case, or the person asks for help themselves on this website. Continental coordinators review each case, set a plan of action, and appoint a case leader as local volunteers join. Every step, from the plan to the weekly updates and the final report, is published on the case page.
We don't collect donations or hand out money. We take on problems that people can solve together with their time, skills and donated materials. And where a problem could come back, we go the extra mile: the team helps the person or family build a plan to take ownership of what comes next.
